SK QD Type Bushings
QD bushings are an important part of the sprocket. The outer diameter of the QD bushing tapers until the flange is straight. The flanges are evenly spaced and hex head screws are used to tighten the mounted parts onto the bushings. This helps compress the inner diameter of the bushing onto the key shaft. It also protects the sprocket hub from damaging stress.
QD bushings are tapered and flanged for quick disconnect. QD bushings can be used to replace standard bore products due to the split flange. Another type of QD bushing is a keyless, collar, or tapered locking bushing. These are interchangeable between manufacturers, making them a convenient option. Several types of QD bushings are listed below.
QD welding on adapters can be used to mount bushings on various rotary units. Its outer diameter is straight for easy installation and removal. Bushings are also available for WELDASPOCKETS(r) and are machined to fit both. These types are commonly used for bushings. You can find QD bushings for almost any application. Standard Mounting
1. Make sure the cone on the bushing and the inside of the driven product is clean and free of oil or any anti-seize lubricant.
2. Slide QD bushing on a shaft, flange end first, then assemble key.
3. Place the QD bushing on the shaft. Use only a standard Allen key to tighten the set screw on the key (hand-tight). Don’t push too hard.
4. Slide the large end of the sprocket or other part taper hole into place over the cone, aligning the drilled bolt holes on the sprocket or other part with the taper holes in the bushing flange. Then assemble the pull-up bolt and lock washer.
5. Tighten the pull-up bolts alternately and evenly to the tightening levels shown in the torque table below. Do not use extensions on wrench handles. There should now be a gap between the face of the sprocket or other part hub and the flange of the QD bushing to ensure a satisfactory tapered grip and press fit. NOTE: This gap must not be closed.
Dismounting
The main purpose of the bushing is to support the assembly while protecting it. They must be rigid enough to support the load placed on them, and flexible enough to protect the shaft. Since the shaft is usually not centered on the bushing during rotation, the bushing must be durable enough to carry the load while still protecting the shaft.
